NBA Coaches Participate in National Effort to Help Those Ready to Re-Enter the Workforce

FREMONT, Calif., July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — For the third year in a row, Men’s Wearhouse has partnered with the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) to drive awareness for the National Suit Drive, an annual initiative that collects professional attire for unemployed individuals looking to re-enter the workforce. As the Official Wardrobe Supplier of the NBCA’s 2015-16 season with Joseph Abboud, Men’s Wearhouse is teaming up with NBA coaches from across the country to donate and spread the word in an effort to help support their local communities.

NBA coaches including Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics), Fred Hoiberg (Chicago Bulls), Jason Kidd (Milwaukee Bucks) and Terry Stotts (Portland Trailblazers) have committed to donating suits in support of the cause.

“We all know that dressing for success is vital, whether on the court in a job interview, and I’d encourage all of my fellow coaches and fans to donate a suit and help change a life for the better,” said Coach Rick Carlisle, Head Coach of the Dallas Mavericks and President of the NBCA. “The National Suit Drive is a terrific program that helps empower those in our local communities to re-enter the workforce with confidence.”

Until July 31, people can donate gently used men’s and women’s professional attire (suits, shirts, jackets, ties, belts and shoes) at over 800 Men’s Wearhouse stores across the nation. Clothing collected will be distributed to over 180 local non-profit organizations across the country that help disadvantaged individuals regain employment through job readiness programs and workforce assistance. As a thank you, consumers who donate will receive a coupon for 50 percent off their next purchase of regular priced retail items at Men’s Wearhouse (excluding shoes, clearance and Exceptional Value items).

#GIVEASUIT AND GET SOCIAL

The National Suit Drive is symbolized by a blue hanger. To help spread the word about this campaign, Men’s Wearhouse is encouraging people to share the #GiveASuit post found on its Facebook and Twitter pages. For every share, the company will donate $1 (up to $25,000) to the local nonprofits they have partnered with.

Donors are also encouraged to help raise awareness by sharing a photo of an empty hanger in their hometown, identified by a unique backdrop, using #GiveASuit. Men’s Wearhouse will be reposting their favorite photos throughout the month of July.
